Why online psychiatry

Specialist mental health care without the wait

Online psychiatry (also called telepsychiatry) means seeing a psychiatrist by secure video instead of in a clinic room. The assessment is the same careful conversation, just more convenient.

Fast appointments

Appointments are usually available within days, not months. No GP referral needed.

From your own home

No travel, no waiting rooms and no time off for the journey. Join from your phone, tablet or laptop.

Consultant Psychiatrists

Every appointment is with an experienced, GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist.

Diagnosis & prescriptions

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor, so they can diagnose and prescribe where clinically appropriate.

Private & secure

Encrypted video consultations and records handled in line with UK GDPR.

A regulated provider

Consultations are provided by Happy Clinic, which is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the regulator of health care in England.

More about online psychiatry

Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD assessment online

Many adults reach their 30s, 40s or later before realising that lifelong problems with focus, organisation, restlessness or impulsivity could be ADHD. NHS waiting lists for adult assessments can be very long in many areas.

  • 60-minute structured assessment with a Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Clear explanation of the outcome and your options
  • Medication and titration reviews where clinically appropriate
  • Shared care agreements proposed to your GP where suitable

Common signs of ADHD in adults

  • Losing focus in conversations, meetings or reading
  • Starting many tasks but struggling to finish them
  • Chronic lateness, missed deadlines and forgotten appointments
  • Feeling restless or finding it hard to relax
  • Acting or speaking before thinking
  • These difficulties go back to childhood

Only a full assessment can tell whether ADHD, or something else, explains your symptoms.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a private psychiatric assessment directly with Happy Clinic. Having a registered GP is still recommended, especially if you may need ongoing medication or a shared care agreement.

Who can use the service?

Adults aged 18 and over. If you live outside the UK, contact Happy Clinic before booking, because assessment and prescribing may be restricted by local rules.

Is a video consultation as good as seeing someone in person?

For most psychiatric assessments and reviews, a video consultation works very well, because the assessment is mainly a detailed conversation. If your psychiatrist feels you need something that cannot be done online, they will tell you.

Can an online psychiatrist prescribe?

Yes, when clinically appropriate. Prescriptions issued during an assessment or follow-up are included in the appointment fee. Diagnosis and prescribing are never guaranteed.
